Michael Lister

Michael C. Lister recently completed his Doctor of Arts degree in Choral Conducting at Ball State University, where he conducted the Statesmen Male Chorus, Chamber Choir, and University Choral Union. Having received Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a Master of Music in Music Theory from Indiana University, For six years, Dr. Lister was the Director of Choirs at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, a private junior high and high school in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In 2008-09, Dr. Lister served as conductor of the Madrigal Singers at Butler University and as Conducting Fellow of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. Dr. Lister is currently Assistant Professor of Choral Music at the College of Saint Rose, where he conducts the Masterworks Chorale and Madrigal Ensemble and teaches courses in conducting and music theory.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lister has remained an active musician and educator. He was Staff Accompanist at the University of Miami and member of the piano faculty of Otterbein College in Columbus, Ohio. He was the musical director and accompanist for the Akron Lyric Opera from 2003-2005 and has served as musical director for numerous theater productions. As a singer, Dr. Lister has performed with the Carnegie Hall Festival Chorus, Akron Lyric Opera, Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Voices of Canton Chamber Ensemble, and the Master Chorale of Southern Florida. Dr. Lister is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, College Music Society, and Intercollegiate Men’s Choruses.
